A Messy Desk

About keeping things in order

A messy desk with papers scattered
I wish that it would not be so
But generally I find what mattered
Beneath a stapler, or wedding bow

When I have time to sort the stack
It looks presentable for a while
But then off on a multi-tasking tack
And by and by another pile

I like to collect things, ask Peter
He'll tell you he's been trying for years
To get me to be somewhat neater
It'll get much much worse he fears

Well, generally I get the job done
Orderliness, be damned
A messy desk such as I own
Must be a sign of a poetic hand
